Forest, the pilot, was from the small city of Coteau-du-Lac in southwestern Quebec, Canada. Its mayor, Andrée Brosseau, issued a statement offering condolences and assistance to Forest's loved ones.

Toronto college Seneca Polytechnic identified Gunther as the first officer on the flight.
It said he had graduated from its Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology program in 2023, then immediately joined Jazz Aviation and "began his professional flying career." The school lowered its flags in his memory on Tuesday.
Speaking at LaGuardia on Monday, Federal Aviation Administration head Bryan Bedford offered his condolences to the families of the two men, whom he did not name.
"These were two young men at the start of their careers, so it's an absolute tragedy that we're sitting here with their loss," he said.

"I'm just so appreciative that they were able to save us, but I'm just so sad that they weren't able to make it home to their families," she said.
